1967 Shelby GT500
Description
1967 Shelby GT500
1967 Ford Shelby GT 500 Fastback Coupe for purchase. Carroll Shelby already had a hit on their hands with the track oriented GT 350, and in 1967 they introduced a big block variant the GT 500. The GT 500 is not a racing car, although but for a few subtle differences its engine is the same as the one that propelled Shelby’s Fords to victory at Le Mans. Seven liters in a Mustang! The early GT 500 engineering prototype was the fastest car ever to lap Ford’s twisty handling loop, except for the GT 40s, of course. And the same car cut a quarter-mile in 13.6 seconds at 106 mph.
This registered GT 500 is powered by a correct 428 Cobra Jet V8 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. The same owner restored and drove in fair weather only for the last 30 years titling the car on August 15th, 1984. This car shows the age of the restoration in spots, but it is an excellent driver in one of the most sought after models in the muscle car world. The GT 500 is one of those cars that is considered the holy grail of collectibles. This is an incredible investment opportunity and an awesome car to take off and drive in with a very rare automatic transmission.
